3. Wayne Rooney
An alternate striker target would be Wayne Rooney, regularly linked with a move to Emirates Stadium.
As a player able to both lead the line and drop deep, Rooney could be a more suitable partner for Giroud, who has started the season in fine form.
Rooney is one of the best goalscorers in Premier League history, and has won everything there is to win at club level bar the FA Cup.
That winning mentality would be a fantastic asset to harness for the rest of the players at Arsenal, but all signs now point to Wayne Rooney staying at Old Trafford.
4. Matthias Ginter
Arsenal have already suffered a crisis in defence this season, with Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal missing the beginning of the season, Kieran Gibbs and Bacary Sagna picking up minor injuries in their first match, and Laurent Koscielny first earning a red card against Aston Villa before requiring stitches above his eye against Fenerbahce.
In defensive midfield too, there have been gaps, with Mikel Arteta missing for the long term. Mathieu Flamini has been brought in as cover, but another German wonderkid in Matthias Ginter could be an immensely useful player to plug gaps in both defence and in the anchor role.
The Daily Mail suggest that Arsenal made a £6.1m bid earlier this month.
