Napoli star could move to either Emirates Stadium or Etihad Stadium – but a summer transfer is more likely.
Napoli centre forward Edinson Cavani says that he could move in the summer, but that any club looking to buy him would need to remain aware of his buyout clause.
fanatix tickets – Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for this weekend’s games.
Manchester City vs Liverpool tickets are on sale from £29 for this Sunday’s match at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal and Manchester City were linked with a move for Cavani in the current transfer window, with the Gunners thought to have made a stunning £30 million bid earlier this month.
Manager Arsene Wenger fuelled the rumours himself.
“I like him as a player,” said Wenger.
“Will he cost a lot of money? That’s for sure. Nobody would deny that.
“Our banker lives just next to me at the moment and he is ready if we find the right player.”
Cavani himself added some rather enticing words, but it would seem more likely that he moves in the summer – particularly when they will have to spend a figure of €63 million to meet his buyout clause.
“If a club has a clear project and they want to focus on me, they can’t be frightened in front of this figure,” said Cavani.
“For now, I’m not thinking about [my future]. Then it will be up to the club to take into consideration what should be done.”
Cavani was asked by Gazzetta dello Sport whether his future was in his own hands or the club, to which he responded: “Yes, but a lot will depend on the offer that the president will make me at the end of the season.”
“I am happy here. Napoli have given me a lot and I am trying to repay them. We’ll talk about it.”
If Cavani does not receive the improved salary he is seeking soon, perhaps Arsenal or Manchester City will then be able to bring him to the Premier League.
