Nicklas Bendtner is a deluded, deluded man…
Bizarrely, Arsenal’s much maligned and out of favour striker Nicklas Bendtner has claimed he sees his future at either Real Madrid or Barcelona, reports the Metro.
The Dane has yet to score this season for Arsenal, and will almost definitely be allowed to leave on a free when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Despite this, the Danish forward reckons he has a chance of moving to either of La Liga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.
When asked where he sees himself in the future, Bendtner told Danish publication Politiken: “Real Madrid or Barcelona.”
“I’m going somewhere where I know I can be happy to play. With a team where I can score goals and preferably to win something,” he continued.
“I do not want to sit on the bench staring. I love playing lots of games.”
Why Bendtner thinks Madrid or Barca would actually want him is very strange, as is his expectation that he would get the first-team football he craves at on of these enormous clubs.
The 25-year-old has not actually scored a goal in club football since his loan spell at Sunderland during the 2011/12 season, after enduring a miserable time at Juventus last term.
With Lukas Podolski out injured, Bendtner is the only senior backup for Olivier Giroud, but once the German returns to full fitness, it’s unlikely the Dane will get much of a sniff at the Emirates at all.
