Wenger interested in signing both Morata and Casemiro.
Having been linked with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata for some time, Arsenal are now interested in signing his teammate Casemiro as well, according to the Mirror.
Morata has been the subject of the north London club’s interest for much of the current season, as it becomes more and more apparent further recruitment is needed in attack.
The 21-year-old is thought to be valued at around £12m and manager Arsene Wenger would bring in the Spaniard to compete with Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo – with Nicklas Bendtner expected to be leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Casemiro meanwhile is a new target, with the Brazilian having arrived at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu last year for £5m from Sao Paolo.
Since that move the 22-year-old has found game time hard to come by and has made 20 appearances in total this term – of which only three were starts.
The South American generally operates in defensive midfield, but can also play as a centre-back, and would bring the grit to Wenger’s side that has so often lacked with the likes of Mikel Arteta playing in front of the back four.
The north Londoners will face competition from Inter Milan for the Brazil international however, who may leave Madrid on-loan initially if a deal were to be struck.
Wenger is hoping to significantly strengthen at the end of the term after another promising start has fallen away once again, largely due to a lack of depth to the squad.
