The 20 year-old playmaker has shone for the Gunners’ Under-21 side this season in today’s equivalent of the reserve league.
Prior to his Gunners move, Eisfeld scored six goals and grabbed six assists in twelve games for Borussia Dortmund’s youth team, and his goalscoring prowess has continued with Arsenal’s U21s.
He has eight goals and two assists in his twelve appearances for the young Gunners, and if he can translate that kind of strike rate to senior football, he will be a huge asset.
Ipswich originally hoped to sign Brentford’s Harry Forrester, but his goalscoring cameo against Chelsea means the Tractor Boys are now resigned to losing out to a Premier League side in the race for the 22 year-old’s signature.
Whilst Eisfeld is seemingly second choice signing for Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy, that’s not to say he won’t be a success at Portman Road.
There appears to be real hope at Arsenal that he will make it to the very highest level.
Before he can do that though, he will require first team experience, and a loan spell in the nPower Championship with Ipswich could be a very fine move indeed.
