Wilshere picked up a foot injury playing for England.
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is out for six weeks after picking up a foot injury playing for England against Denmark on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old had to receive medical attention after a clash with Liverpool defender Daniel Agger during the international friendly at Wembley Stadium.
Yet despite the fact the incident occurred early in the first half, manager Roy Hodgson chose not to take the midfield ace off until after half-time.
Wilshere has fractured a small bone in his left foot and this news is not likely to be taken well by club boss Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners chief has previously had disagreements over international duty and his players and this injury will only serve to exacerbate things.
Wilshere now joins Aaron Ramsey and Kim Kallstrom on the list of injured absentees, although there is some reprieve as both of those midfielders should return to full fitness soon.
This is not good for the north Londoners, who slipped off the pace in the Premier League last weekend after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke City.
That result leaves them four points off leaders Chelsea and behind second-placed Liverpool on goal difference, whilst Manchester City trail them by just two points with two games in hand.
Wenger’s men have a break from the league this weekend as they take on Everton in the FA Cup quarter-final at the Emirates Stadium – a competition they stand a realistic chance of winning
It could soon be their only chance of ending what is nearly a nine year trophy drought, as they also trail reigning champions Bayern Munich 2-0 in their Champions League last-16 tie.
