Higuain is a ‘phenomenal player’ says Albiol.
Gonzalo Higuain will be an instant hit at his next club, according to current Real Madrid teammate Raul Albiol.
Argentine striker Higuain has made no secret of his desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with Arsenal and Juventus said to be leading the chase for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Higuain’s brother and agent Nico has stressed that neither the Gunners or Scudetto winners have agreed terms with Real but Albiol has admitted he is unsure if the forward will still be in the Spanish capital next summer.
“Pipita is a phenomenal player. I don’t know if we’ll continue as team-mates, but it’s a pleasure to play with him. He’s a spectacular striker,” Albiol is quoted as saying by Goal.com.
The defender added that Higuain, who scored 16 league goals in just 19 starts this season, was a ‘phenomenal player’ who would be a great signing for any team.
“He has fought hard at Madrid, he has had to pick himself up a lot of times. If he leaves, I wish him the best and he’ll be a great addition to the team he signs for.
“I hope I never have to come up against him, though, because he’s an excellent player!”
The Argentina international, who joined Real from River Plate in 2006, has a contract with Los Blancos until June 2016 and is expected to cost interested suitors around €25-30 million.
