Parc des Princes forward says it is time for a ‘new path’.
PSG winger Nene wants the club to release him from his contract so he can join a new team in January.
Arsenal have been linked with the 31-year-old, who has scored a stunning 35 league goals in just 76 league games for the mega-rich Parisiens.
“I think it is time to follow a new path in my career”, the player, who is under contract with the mega-rich French capital club until July 2013, told his personal website.
“I like the city, PSG and the fans, who have always treated me with great respect,” he wrote. “I have received lots of messages both in person and through the social networks, begging me to stay.”
Nene, who was dropped for the last two games after his attitude to being left on the bench for a Champions League game against Porto, added: “I believe we can come to an agreement to free me from my contract.”
Reports have suggested that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger eyes Nene as possible short-term replacement for Theo Walcott, who is stalling over signing a new deal at the Emirates.
Last month, left winger Nene was quoted as saying by the Parisien newspaper in an interview that he wanted to stay at the club.
