Gunners considering a move for Perin.
Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin has emerged as a £12m January transfer target for Arsenal as they look to alternatives to current No.1 Wojciech Szczesny, reports CaughtOffside.
Szczesny has not played for the Gunners since being accused of smoking in the showers following the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Southampton on New Year’s Day.
The future of the Poland international at the Emirates Stadium is now in doubt and although David Ospina has been filling in between the sticks since the Saints defeat, manager Arsene Wenger wants another ‘keeper to challenge the Colombian.
Both Mainz stopper Loris Karius and Guillermo Ochoa of Malaga have been linked with the North Londoners, but it appears Perin is now Wenger’s No.1 target.
The 22-year-old has been impressing in Serie A in recent times and has been compared to Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon as a result of his performances.
