Gunners are keen to add more firepower to their attack at the Emirates in the new campaign.
Arsenal are finally ready to make a move for highly-rated Real Madrid front man Gonzalo Higuain next week, according to reports in the Sunday Mail.
The Argentina international recently made it public that he intends to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, having spent the last seven seasons in the Spanish capital after arriving in Madrid from River Plate for just 12 million euros in Dec 2006.
And in the intervening seven-year period, the 25-year-old has proved himself to be one of the most accomplished finishers on the Continent, having found the back of the net on 122 occasions in just 266 matches for the Spanish giants, including 106 strikes in only 188 Liga matches.
As a result, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has now identified the striker as being the ideal man with which to take the north London club forward next season, with the Frenchman set to bid £20m to sign Higuain.
