Wilshere a possible replacement for Manchester United-bound Thiago at the Nou Camp.
Arsenal star Jack Wilshere could replace Manchester United-bound playmaker Thiago at Barcelona, according to Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo.
The England international is named alongside Ajax’s Chritisn Eriksen, Borja Valero of Fiorentina and Valencia star Ever Banega as a possible replacement for the Spain international, who is closing in on a £17m move to Old Trafford.
Wilshere has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp in the past, with Brazilian right-back Dani Alves publicly urging the pass-master to join the La Liga champions back in February.
The 21-year-old indicated his admiration for the La Liga giants when he tweeted a picture of his infant son in full Barca away kit last month.
After returning from over 18 months on the sidelines, Wilshere played a key part in the Gunners’ fourth placed finish last season, making 28 appearances in all competitions.
The playmaker was one of five Arsenal players to sign a bumper long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium in December and it is believe the England star is among the club’s highest earners.
The midfielder has been playing with Barcelona B but is said to be highly-rated by head-coach Tito Vilanova.
