Gunners have been tracking forward for over a year now.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is mulling over making a move for Real Madrid front man Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports in the Spanish press.
The Argentina international has by all accounts gown tired and weary of life as a substitute at the Santiago Bernabeu and feels that he has not been given a fair crack of the whip up front by Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese only ever plays with one out-and-out front man in the Spanish capital with forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria supporting that striker from out wide, and that lone player is almost always France international Karim Benzema, especially when the big games come around.
Wenger has been keeping tracks on Higuain for over a year now and believes that the 25-year-old is just the type of penalty-box operator that the North Londoners are in need of if they are to finish this campaign in the top four of the Premier League, and with that entry into next season’s Champions League.
And, with Madrid understood to be willing to now listen to offers in the region of the £25 million mark for the Paris-born attacker, the Gunners are now said to be all set to make their move.
