Lyon midfielder Gourcuff set for move to Emirates.
Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff is set to move to Arsenal according to The Daily Star.
The French club have offered the services of the French international to a number of top European sides and Arsenal look set to make their move to bring him to North London.
Arsenal are seeking to initially take Gourcuff on a six month loan to assess the player’s ability to adapt to the Premiership before deciding in the summer on whether or not to make an approach for a permanent deal.
Arsene Wenger is currently facing a crisis in his midfield with Mikel Arteta set to miss the next three weeks and Abou Diaby lacking match fitness having only just returned from injury.
Wenger is known to have been an admirer of Gourcuff for some time, and has moved into pole position in the race for his signature after the French international rejected a move to London rivals QPR earlier in the month.
The player’s agent, Didier Poulmaire, is set to travel to London this week to finalise terms before the player’s arrival.
Arsenal are seeking to bring in reinforcements as they look to raise themselves up the table and secure one of those vital Champions League qualification spots.
