Wenger wants enforcer at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are set to reignite their interest in Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, according to CaughtOffside.
Boss Arsene Wenger targeted the French international in the summer and is confident he can lure M’Vila to London this month.
The 22-year-old battler came close to signing for the Gunners in June but Wenger reportedly scrapped the deal after M’Vila clashed with his French international teammates at Euro 2012.
But the Arsenal boss is preparing a £12m bid for the player, who he believes will add some much need steel to his stylish but flimsy midfield.
M’Vila has endured a miserable six months in Ligue 1, losing his place in the Rennes first-team and French national squad, before being hit by a lengthy international ban in November after breaking curfew whilst on under-21 duty.
But Wenger is ready to take on a chance on the youngster, who’s tough-tackling and physical presence has drawn comparisons with former Gunners star Patrick Vieira.
Arsenal sold Alex Song to Barcelona in the summer and failed to replace the Cameroonian. Abou Diaby started the season on fine form in a holding midfield role but has since succumbed to a serious thigh injury and the creative Mikel Arteta has been forced to protect the back four.
