New deals for Gunners pair Bacary Sagna and Per Mertesacker.
Arsenal are set to offer new deals to defensive pair Bacary Sagna and Per Mertesacker, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Sagna, 30, is out of contract next summer and was linked with moves to Ligue 1 giants PSG and AS Monaco during the transfer window.
But the France international has started the season as the Gunners’ first choice right back and can also cover at centre half.
The former Auxerre man is reportedly regarded as integral to the Gunners’ defence by Arsene Wenger and his versatility persuaded the Arsenal boss against pursuing a new centre half this summer.
Sagna, who joined Arsenal in 2007, will be offered a one year contract extension.
Mertesacker, meanwhile, is keen to commit his future to the North London club following the arrival of Germany international teammate Mesut Ozil.
The centre half agreed a four-year deal when he arrived in 2011 and has formed an impressive partnership with Laurent Koscielny; Wenger is keen to keep both on board.
Meanwhile, Tomas Rosicky’s contract will also be addressed shortly. The Czech Republic international has been on a one-year rolling contract but has started the season impressively.
