Frenchman will not be making Premier League return.
Lorient striker Jeremie Aliadiere will not be returning to the Premier League, according to the French club’s president.
The former Arsenal striker has been linked with a surprise return to the Gunners, while Newcastle are also thought to have scouted the 29-year-old Frenchman.
Aliadiere is enjoying a fine season with Lorient, who are just one point off fourth in Ligue 1, netting seven goals and laying on six assists in just 17 appearances.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is desperate to land a new forward after Demba Ba joined Chelsea but the Toon look set to miss out on top target Loic Remy who is close to joining QPR.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are also in the hunt for a new striker and have linked with names as renowned as Barcelona’s David Villa.
Although Aliadiere, who also played for Wolves and Middlesborough, is thought to be open to a return to England, Lorient’s president Christian Gourcuff says the player will still be at Lorient after the close of the transfer window.
“I know his wife misses England but Jeremie will be here on February 1,” he told L’Equipe.
