Arsenal hope to bring Argentine forward to Emirates Stadium at bargain price.
Arsenal are readying a move for Inter Milan striker Diego Milito, according to Ladbrokes.
The veteran forward has proven that he is still able to perform at the very highest level – despite his 33 years.
Milito has scored eight goals in 18 starts for Internazionale in Serie A this season, and has provided three assists for his team-mates in the same spell.
Perhaps best known for his starring role in Inter’s treble season of 2009, where he scored twice in the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich, Milito would add some serious experience to the Arsenal squad – and a much needed winning mentality.
The Argentina international comes alive in the box, capitalising on the smallest of chances or an opposition error.
Arsenal’s propensity for profligacy might mean his clinical edge would be a boon for the Gunners, as often they have to create multiple chances before scoring one.
He is also a fine player at leading a line, and his powerful physique helps hold up the ball, both when he drops deep and stays high up the pitch. This is particularly something that Theo Walcott struggles with, as the young Englishman can work the channels well but does not have the strength to keep possession until his team-mates join him.
With Inter looking to cut their wage bill due to financial constraints, Arsenal could secure Milito’s signature at a bargain price.
