With Napoli confirming transfer talks have begun for Argentina international, Arsenal must move quickly if they are to land Real Madrid hitman.
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis says that the club have begun transfer talks with Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain – believed to be Arsenal’s top target this summer.
De Laurentiis was asked in a Twitter Q&A session if the club had entered negotiations to sign Higuain and Internacional forward Leandro Damiao, and confirmed that Napoli had indeed begun talks.
@ADeLaurentiis Presidente, è vero che ci sono delle trattative per Higuain e per Damiao? #AskADL

English translation: “President, is it true that there are talks for Higuain and Damiao?”
E' vero

English translation: “It’s true.”
Higuain’s record in front of goal is undeniable.
The 25 year-old has found the back of the net 122 times in his 266 games for Real Madrid, with plenty of substitute appearances across that number due to sharing the main striker role with Karim Benzema.
14 goals from 44 shots in La Liga this season show lethal finishing, with that 32% strike rate reportedly twice as deadly as the typical forward.
In his previous season, he managed 22 goals from 51 shots, meaning he scored with an astonishing 43% of his efforts.
It is little wonder that Arsenal are interested in signing the Real Madrid hitman, but they appear to have been distracted by a move for Luis Suarez, and Higuain could now end up at Napoli.
