Ozil expected to start for Gunners alongside Jack Wilshere.
Mesut Ozil will make his Arsenal debut at Sunderland despite missing training on Friday through illness, according to BBC journalist David Ornstein.
Ornstein says the German is set to line up alongside England’s Jack Wilshere in midfield, but Santi Cazorla misses out.
In more good news for Arsenal fans, captain Thomas Vermalen is reportedly on the bench having missed the club’s opening five matches of the season through injury.
In the absence of Per Mertesacker, who is ill, Bacary Sagna starts at centre half and will captain the side.
