The German club said the 30-year-old, who finished third behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting, will return to training next week and should be fit for the second leg in Munich.
While losing Ribery is a blow to Pep Guardiola’s side, the Champions League holders boast a whole host of possible replacements. Arjen Robben is expected to start on the right, while two of Xherdan Shaqiri, Toni Kroos, Thomas Mueller and Bastian Schweinsteiger could play in advanced midfield roles in Ribery’s absence.
