Gunners linked with bringing two highly productive strikers to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal want to move for two strikers in the summer transfer window – Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic and Alain Traore of FC Lorient.
fanatix tickets – Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for next weekend’s games.
Sunderland vs Arsenal tickets are on sale from £23 for this Saturday’s match at the Stadium of Light.
The Metro report that Alain Traore has emerged as a recent target thanks to his brilliant form both domestically and in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored three goals in two appearances for Burkina Faso.
Traore is a creative and versatile player, and his six goals and five assists in 13 Ligue 1 games have come from a variety of positions – up front, the number ten position behind the striker, and even defensive midfield.
Centre forward is thought to be his best role though, and the Metro claim only injury at the Africa Cup of Nations prevented him sealing a £5 million Gunners transfer in January.
Arsenal also retain interest in Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic, according to the Daily Mirror.
Whilst a price for the 23 year-old Montenegrin has not been mentioned, it is safe to assume that he would cost rather more than the £5m quoted for Traore.
Jovetic has scored nine goals and three assists in 18 Serie A games, but many of his team-mates have not been matching his impressive form.
With only five European qualification places available in Serie A, and Juventus, Napoli, Lazio, AC Milan and Internazionale ahead of Fiorentina in the table, I Viola look likely to miss out on continental competition again this season.
Perhaps the promise of battle with Europe’s best clubs could convince Jovetic to move to Arsenal – and it would be a much easier sell if the Gunners were to reach the promised land that is the UEFA Champions League.
