Anderlecht set asking-price for midfielder star.
Anderlecht want at least €10.25m (£8.5m) for Arsenal, Newcastle and AC Milan target Lucas Biglia, says the Belgian club’s general director.
The Argentina international has been attracting attention from the Premier League duo and the Italian giants in recent months, with reports suggesting that all three clubs were preparing bids for the defensive midfielder in January.
Biglia, 26, joined Anderlecht in 2006 from Independiente and has been a key figure for the Brussels outfit, winning four Pro League titles and one Belgian cup since his arrival.
The enforcer has arguably outgrown the club but Anderlecht are determined not to lose their prized asset on the cheap.
The Belgian club’s director general, Herman Van Holsbeek, told calciomercato.com today: “Milan are interested in Lucas Biglia.
“He’s expressed a desire to move to Italy? We haven’t received any offers. I can’t rule out the possibility his agent is offering him to other clubs, but our position is clear.
“The player still has two-and-a-half years to run on his contract. Obviously if someone pays us enough then we could not say no but we would need eight million euros net.
“That would mean, with one thing or another, a fee of about 10,250,000 euros.
“That would obviously be the fee that would allow us to sell him immediately, we can re-evaluate in the summer, but in January he will not go for a penny less.”
Although AC Milan appear favourites for Biglia, Arsenal are also thought to have money to spend in January and, with Abou Diaby still sidelined, the Gunners are in desperate need of a new defensive midfielder to free-up playmaker Mikel Arteta.
