Gunners want Gareth Barry at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal could make a shock summer bid for Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners are thought to be monitoring the England international, who has just a year remaining on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium, and boss Arsene Wenger could make a shock summer switch.
Barry has been at Eastlands since arriving from Aston Villa in 2009 and the 32-year-old has played a key part in the club’s recent success, making 34 Premier League appearances in last season’s title triumph.
But the arrival of £34m Fernandinho at the club is set to limit the England player’s playing time next term and he could seek an exit.
The left-footed pass-master will only leave the club for the right deal, however, and it remains to be seen if Barry would be handed more playing time at the Emirates than in Manchester City, given the presence of Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey in North London.
