The 20 year old has reportedly chosen to move to Ligue 1 side Lille after the French club beat the North London club to the player’s signature.
The French teenager has put in a string of impressive performances this season attracting the attention of a number of top European clubs.
Arsenal were considered favourite to land the young midfielder but it appears Lille have raced in ahead of the Gunners.
Thauvin has represented the French national sides all the way through the youth teams and is considered one of the hottest properties in European football.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had hoped that his track record of developing young French players would persuade Thauvin to choose a move to the Emirates.
Lille are expected to confirm the deal in the next couple of days.
The player has reportedly moved for a fee in the region of £3.5 million. Lille won the French Ligue 1 title in 2011 but are currently enduring a tough season, sitting in a mid-table position of eleventh.
