Gunners want to bring Napoli star to the Emirates this month.
Arsenal are locked in negotiations with Napoli over a January deal for midfielder Juan Camilo Zuniga, according to Italian source TuttoMercato.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has money to spend this month and reportedly wants to bring the 27-year-old Colombian to the Emirates Stadium.
Napoli are fierce negotiators and are unwilling to lose the versatile midfielder on the cheap but Zuniga’s contract is set to expire in summer 2014 and the Serie A club are concerned that he could leave on the San Paulo on the cheap next season.
Zuniga joined Napoli from fellow Italians Siena in 2009 and, after initially struggling for a place in the first-team, he has established himself as one of Napoli’s star performers.
The versatile star can play anywhere across the midfield playing on the left in a wing-back role.
While the Colombian international is a fine passer and often dominates opponents in the air, he lacks the defensive qualities to be a realistic solution to Arsenal’s problem left-back spot, suggesting Wenger is planning to utilise Zuniga in midfield.
