Arsenal hope to bring Premier League goal machine to Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have high hopes of signing a striker in January, and one of their top targets for the transfer window has revealed he would be open to an offer from Emirates Stadium.
Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has given an interview to French television network Canal+ in which he revealed his admiration for the Gunners – and gave some rather non-subtle hints about a potential north London move in the new year.
“Arsenal are one of these teams who make you dream,” said Ba when asked about prospective interest from Arsene Wenger’s side.
“I have nothing to say about the speculation. Nothing has happened yet.
“The press know Arsenal need another striker and also know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it.”
The world and his dog are aware of Demba Ba’s £7.5m release clause, and should Arsenal feel that the concerns about the Newcastle striker’s knees are worth gambling on, he should not hesitate at that price.
Ba is currently third highest goalscorer in the Premier League, with 11 goals in 17 appearances so far.
Arsenal have four top scorers with four goals each in Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla, but whilst it is good to spread the goals throughout the team, there still seems a need for a top striker in the side – particularly since Robin Van Persie has left the team.
Demba Ba could be the man to fill that void.
