Emirates Stadium outfit ready to increase their offer for controversial striker.
Arsenal are favourites to sign Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and are ready to bid £40m for the Uruguayan, according to the Daily Mirror‘s Gunners expert John Cross.
The north London outfit had an opening bid of £30m plus £5m in add-ons rejected by Liverpool last week but the fresh offer will put Arsenal firmly in the driving seat to land Suarez, with Real Madrid also interested but only willing to pay a paltry £25m.
Suarez’s agents are said to be making encouraging noises to Arsenal and it is believed a bid of £40m will force Liverpool to sell the 26-year-old, who bagged 23 Premier League goals last term.
The Anfield outfit remain adamant that a bid of £40m will not force them to sell the Uruguay international but they must inform Suarez of the offer and it is understood the former Ajax striker is willing to remain in the Premier League, despite previous claims that the British press have harassed him.
There is reportedly a growing feeling around the Gunners camp that they have a genuine chance of signing Suarez, while Wayne Rooney and Gonzalo Higuain remain both also on the club’s radar.
