The attacking midfielder had another poor game against the Germans.
Despite a positive start in their Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, Arsenal eventually succumbed to a 0-2 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
There has been much made of Mesut Ozil’s perceived poor form in recent times and the £42.4m club record signing was singled out for criticism once again in this match.
Ozil won a penalty for the Gunners after 11 minutes, but took a tame spot-kick that was easily saved by former Schalke 04 team-mate Manuel Neuer.
The 25-year-old’s confidence noticeably dropped after the failed effort and the German ended up having an on-field argument with Mathieu Flamini.
However, fans in north London have jumped to the defence of their supposed best player, stating that the abuse is not warranted.
Nobody will feel worse than Özil about last night. Bergkamp missed a pen & recovered to become an All-Time Arsenal Legend. Mesut will too.

Main reason why Özil is so derided is because people expect more for their money, and that’s because people are impatient idiots

Can’t wait till Özil rips everyone to shreds and silences critics. Did you not learn your lesson with Mertesaker and Ramsey?
