In a shock move Wenger chose to play the youngster against Bayern.
In perhaps Arsenal’s biggest game of the season so far against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Arsene Wenger chose to play Yaya Sanogo ahead of Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman only started his first game for his new club against Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday and yet now the 21-year-old is facing the European champions.
Many think that the reason Giroud has been dropped is for allegations that came out in the British tabloid newspaper the Sun on Sunday at the weekend, claiming the striker had cheated on his wife with glamour model Celia Kay.
There was a picture of the 27-year-old in his underwear in a hotel room with Kay published in the paper and although the France international has apologised on Twitter, he denies committing adultery.
Meanwhile Gunners fans have had a mixed reaction to Sanogo’s place in the starting XI.
