The 20-year-old winger is the most talked about youngster in English football at present and has been linked with moves to Tottenham, Liverpool, Man City, United and the Gunners.
United had hoped to have a free run on the England international, having already opened discussions with Palace, but Arsenal have entered the chase.
It now appears to be a two horse race for Zaha but Palace chairman Steve Parish is aware that the South London club need to bring in a hefty transfer fee to assuage fans and will demand big bucks from the duo.
Arsenal’s chief scout, Steve Rowley, is understood to have watched Zaha on a number of occasions and has urged boss Arsene Wenger to move for the speedster, even if Theo Walcott signs a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
United, meanwhile, are happy to loan Zaha back to Palace for the remainder of the season, a move that would seriously aid the South London club’s push for promotion from the Championship.
