Arsenal striker set to leave Emirates Stadium after failing to convince of his worth.
Inter Milan are set to bid to sign Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh on loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (subscription required).
The Moroccan forward briefly appeared a fantastic signing for the Gunners when he first arrived at Emirates Stadium in 2010, scoring in six consecutive UEFA Champions League games.
However, since that great start, he is one of the few players in history to make a free transfer seem like a waste of money, and as with Joe Cole at Liverpool, he remains at his club purely as a drain on wages.
Arsenal are ready to cash in on a player who looks a lost soul at Emirates Stadium, with the crowd audibly annoyed whenever he takes to the field.
An offer from Internazionale would be perfect for the Gunners – even if on loan – as Chamakh’s £60,000 per week could then be used on a different player, for example.
Getting high earning dead wood off of the Arsenal wage bill ought to be Arsene Wenger’s biggest priority for January, as selling on the likes of Chamakh, Sebastien Squillaci and Johan Djourou (to name but a few) could really help the north London club.
