The Swiss international is currently plying his trade on loan at German outfit Hannover and is reportedly keen to turn the deal into a permanent one.
Djourou is currently set to remain with the Bundesliga side until the end of the season but is hopeful of committing his future to the club on a long-term basis.
‘Arsenal did not want to include a buy option. But those things don’t worry me right now. I have to perform first, to make sure Hannover want to buy me’ said the 26-year old centre-back.
Despite Hannover currently lying in 11th place in the Bundesliga, Djourou believes the club have the potential to be amongst the best sides in Europe.
‘As a team we have the quality to reach the Champions League. Everything has to work out great and we all have to stay fit. It is a high goal, but you need to have them in sport.’
Djourou came through the Arsenal youth ranks and at one point was tipped to become one of the best defenders in the world. The player has failed to live up to his potential however and is hoping the move might re-ignite his career.
