Rennes have dramatically dripped their asking-price for troubled midfielder.
ARSENE WENGER is ready to make a cut-price move for Yann M’Vila – because his fee has dropped by a staggering £18million.
Arsenal boss Wenger has long been an admirer of the midfielder but refused to cough up the £25m that Rennes wanted for his services.
Now, though, out-of-favour M’Vila is available for just £7m and could join the Gunners this month. M’Vila’s form and fitness have suffered this season after a move to north London fell through in the summer.
His contract expires at the end of the season and it explains why the French outfit would be willing to cash in now rather than allow him to quit on a free transfer. He said: “I am at Rennes at the moment so let’s see what happens.
“If the club receives a good offer and I like the destination then I will go – there is no doubt about that.”

Despite confirmation from M’Vila’s agent that Arsenal are yet to begin discussions for his client, the midfielder continues to be linked a move to the Emirates this month.
But having tracked Yann M’Vila for the best part of two years, Arsene Wenger would jump at the chance of snapping up the French international for as little as £7m. The 22-year-old came close to moving to the Emirates Stadium in the summer before a deal collapsed due to a number of reported issues, ranging from Rennes’ asking-price to the player’s apparent attitude and lack of maturity following a bust up with his France teammates at Euro 2012.
M’Vila has found himself dropped by Rennes at stages this season and was also the subject to abuse from his own fans and this has pushed the Route de Lorient side into wanting to cash-in on the young talent this month. The youngster is also facing a 20-month ban from international football, after breaking curfew for the under-21s. In short, it has been a miserable six months for the player, who would jump at the chance for a clean break in North London.
Arsene Wenger believes his side misses the protection he needs to help give his more creative talents time and space on the ball and continued injury concerns suffered by Gunners star Abou Diaby is hastening the Arsenal boss into action with regards to the need to bring in a strong midfield presence early in the transfer window.
Yann M’Vila has racked up over 130 appearances for Rennes and has 22 international caps to his name and is certainly ready to ‘step-up’ to a side of Arsenal’s status and Wenger will be all the more keen to secure a deal in January as the tough tackling defensive midfielder is available for Champions League action.
