Gunners line-up Anderlecht star.
Arsenal are preparing a move for Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia after the Argentine made it clear he wants to leave Belgium this month, reports the Daily Mirror.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been tracking the 26-year-old but faces competition for Biglia’s signature from AC Milan and Premier League duo Newcastle and Norwich.
The Argentina international has admitted that he hopes to leave Anderlecht in January and reportedly has a release clause of just €8m (£6.5m).
The 26-year-old has spent the last six years with the Brussels outfit, helping the Belgians to three domestic titles and forcing his way into the national team set-up despite competition from the likes of Javier Mascherano and Esteban Cambiasso.
Arsenal need a new defensive midfielder, with Spaniard Mikel Arteta currently operating in a holding role, in the absence of the injured About Diaby.
The North London club have been linked with Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, as well as West Ham’s Mohamed Diame.
But it is understood that Wenger considers Biglia to be value for money and is ready to meet the classy midfielder’s release clause before the end of January.
