Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed speculation that the club are interested in signing Barcelona striker David Villa.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 31-year-old, who reportedly wants to leave the Nou Camp this month in order to play regular first-team football.
After recovering from a broken leg sustained last season, Villa has found his chances limited under new Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova, who has preferred Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and Cristian Tello as support for Lionel Messi.
Wenger is understood to be keen on recruiting a striker before the close of the January transfer window but says the Spain international, who has won the World Cup and European Championship, is not in his thinking.
“We have been linked with Villa, but there’s nothing concrete there. We’re not on the case,” Wenger told reporters ahead of the Gunners FA Cup fourth-round tie at Brighton.
Barca president Sandro Rossel has stressed that Villa will not be sold this month but the former Valencia striker, who joined the Catalans for £33m in 2009, is believed to be desperate to depart.
Villa has made just seven starts in La Liga this term but has still found the net on five occasions, suggesting the goalscoring prowess that earned him a move from the Mestalla has not deserted him.
Wenger has been coy on new signings so far this month but the Frenchman has also been contradictory at times, confirming his interested in signing Wilfried Zaha last week before dismissing he was ever interested in the Manchester United new-boy on Tuesday.
