Wenger says Villa will not be making Emirates Stadium switch.
Arsene Wenger has ruled out an Arsenal bid for Spanish superstar David Villa and says there is no room for negotiation with Barcelona for the striker.
Goal.com claimed on Monday that Arsenal’s chief contract negotiator Dicky Law had travelled to Catalonia to begin formal talks with the La Liga giants for Villa.
The website suggested Wenger was prepared to pay Barca £13.8m and offer Villa wages of £100,000 per week to lure the World Cup winner to the Emirates Stadium.
But, speaking in a press conference ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Liverpool, the Frenchman ruled out a deal for the former Valencia forward.
“Barca do not want to sell David Villa. They’ve made that very clear,” said Wenger.
When asked if there was any room for negotiation over the player, Wenger replied: “No”.

Both Barca boss Tito Vilanova and club president Sandro Rossel have made it clear that Villa will not be allowed to leave the Nou Camp this month but the diminutive forward is reportedly desperate to depart for first-team football.
Villa has made just seven La Liga starts so far this season, with Vilanova preferring the likes of Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and Cristian Tello alongside Lionel Messi.
But the Spain international, who is his country’s record all-time goalscorer, has still found the net five times, suggesting the eye for a finish that earned him a £33m move from the Mestalla in 2009 has not deserted him.
