Arsenal and Chelsea are both on the hunt for a striker in the January transfer window – and the Gunners’ chances of increasing their firepower could depend on the success of the pursuit of their west London rivals.
Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a centre forward to lead his line as he is unsatisfied with his current options of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, and should the Blues sign an attacker, the latter will be allowed to leave.
Arsene Wenger hoped to secure the signature of Ba in the summer, but upon bringing Mesut Ozil to Emirates Stadium for a club record fee, Mourinho refused to allow his Senegalese striker to depart for the Gunners.
However, the Daily Telegraph reports that Ba has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge for pastures new if Chelsea are successful in their search for a new forward.
