London duo want to sign Anfield star.
Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in a dramatic deal to sign Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Uruguayan has made no secret of his desire to leave Anfield this summer but appeared likely to move abroad after blaming the British press for his unhappiness on Merseyside.
Real Madrid are said to be interested in the striker, who netted 23 league goals for Liverpool last season in a stunning campaign.
But a source close to the Gunners reportedly told the Mirror: “Apart from [Real Madrid’s Gonzalo] Higuain, Arsenal have enquired about two strikers based in the North West, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez. Chelsea are also interested.”
Liverpool had publicly stressed that Suarez, who is currently mid-way through a ten match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, will not be sold this summer but privately the club are thought to be resigned to losing the former Ajax forward.
But the Reds would be loathe to allow Suarez to join a Premier League rival and will fight tooth and nail to keep the striker from Chelsea’s and Arsenal’s clutches.
