Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are all set to do battle over the signing of Sami Khedira, with the Express reporting that the Blues are all set to trump the Gunners’ opening offer of £20 million for the Real Madrid midfielder.
The German midfielder has turned down the option of a new deal at the Bernabeu and looks all set to leave, with the London duo leading the way as both look for a new central midfielder to bolster their ranks ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Khedira currently has bigger things on his mind, as he is set to start in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final for Germany on Sunday, but after the conclusion of the tournament it is likely that the race for the former Vfb Stuttgart man’s signature is likely to really hot up.
If Arsenal have bid £20m for Khedira then it is another statement of intent from Arsene Wenger, who has already sent out a warning shot to the rest of the Premier League after signing Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a significant transfer outlay.
Chelsea have summer form of their own, however, having secured deals for Spanish international pairing Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, but Jose Mourinho remains keen to add a player who he has worked with successfully in the past during his time at Real.
