Anthony Dirrell defends his WBC super-middleweight title against Badou Jack in Chicago on Friday night, and judging by the weigh-in, the pair can’t wait to get started.

Dirrell won the belt back in August last year in his rematch with Sakio Bika in California, and after coming through a gruelling points win on that occasion he will want to put on more of a show this time out.
Jack is part of the Money Team and after recovering from the shock of his first professional loss to Derek Edwards in February 2014, the 31-year-old has won his last two fights to improve to 18-1-1.
While he is certainly a dangerous prospect for his American rival, Dirrell will be confident of getting the job done as he remains undefeated and full of confidence as he continues to defy the odds.
The 30-year-old is a cancer survivor and has a steel rod in his leg after a motorcycle accident back in 2012, and yet he has continued to perform at a high level and finally fulfilled his ambition of becoming a world champion.
He will also have George Groves sitting ringside for the bout with the ‘Saint’ still established as his mandatory challenger for the belt as Dirrell opted to ignore his push for a title shot and instead take a voluntary defense.
However, he will have nowhere to go after this fight, provided that he wins, and so it could make for interesting viewing after the bout to see if he addresses the Brit as they have previously clashed through the media.
Jack is certainly talented and will cause his opponent problems, but Dirrell has shown an ability to dig deep and grind out a win. Expect that to be the case again on Saturday night as we look forward to his brother, Andre, taking on James DeGale next month for the IBF super-middleweight title.
