The summer arrival has spent most of the campaign operating in the centre of United’s midfield, but was called on to replace Angel Di Maria after just 15 minutes against Hull this weekend as the Argentine impede off with a suspected hamstring injury.
And now the £29m man is hoping to be given the chance to impress from just behind the strikers once again after being awarded the Man of the Match award in the 3-0 win.
“I played like a No.10 and it is good because I can change positions. I can give the manager more options,” he said.
“This was the best game of this season for us but we have to keep working and keep winning games because we want to be in the top places in the league.
“It was because we kept the ball. We didn’t lose too many balls. We have done what the manager wants because I heard we had 77% possession. This is a great stat. We are very happy and I think we played very good football because we kept the ball and had possession of it.”
