Van Ginkel’s representative unsure about game time.
Chelsea’s signing of Willian has bemused many people in the football world, not least the agent of new signing Marco Van Ginkel who is worried about the playing time of his client.
The young Dutchman arrived from Vitesse Arnhem this summer for £8m on the proviso that first team action would be given to the 20-year-old.
Yet with an astonishing 12 midfielders now at Stamford Bridge, Van Ginkel is rightly worried about whether the Blues’ promise will be kept.
“We hope not [going on loan], because that would be against all agreements. But you never know with these clubs,” the Netherlands international’s representative Rob Jansen told Nu Sport.
Some of the current crop in west London are linked with moves away however, with Jon Obi Mikel and Victor Moses looking like departures, whilst more surprisingly Juan Mata appears to be unwanted by returning manager Jose Mourinho.
If the trio were to leave then it would give more opportunity to Van Ginkel, but with no guarantees of that the starlet is in a state of limbo.
The Dutchman has come off the bench in two of the club’s three Premier League ties so far this season, but Ramires and Frank Lampard are clearly preferred ahead of the former Vitesse player in the centre of the field.
In a World Cup year it is quite important for Van Ginkel that the midfielder is playing regularly, having recently earned his first two caps for the Netherlands senior side.
