UK comedian Michael McIntyre has been confirmed to host a one-off Christmas version of his Comedy Roadshow series.
The second series of the show is currently airing on BBC1 on Saturday nights, and the announcement of the Christmas special underlines the current popularity of stand-up comedy on television, as well as McIntyre himself.
McIntyre said: 'It's such an honour for the show to be on Christmas Day and to be introducing some of the biggest names in comedy to entertain a turkey-filled nation slumped on their sofas.'
BBC entertainment commissioner Mark Linsey added: 'Who better to bring some Christmas cheer to BBC One viewers than Michael. He is such a favourite with our audiences and this show is bound to be a real festive treat.'
Tickets for the 2012 Michael McIntyre UK tour are available to buy online, with the comedian set to perform at UK arenas throughout August, September, October, November and December next year.
