Lewis Hamilton praises KERS system
By James Barnes, on 28th March 2011, 14:20 UTC
McLaren star Lewis Hamilton has thanked the KERS system for helping him achieve second place at the Australian GP.
"The start was not particularly great," Hamilton told Eurosport, "I really got a lot of wheel spin and lost quite a bit of ground to Sebastian. There was nothing I could do, just try to keep my position. Fortunately, with the KERS, I was able to hold second and, from then, on it was quite a smooth race."
The revelation that Sebastian Vettel beat Hamilton by 22 seconds without the use of KERS shows that the pack still has a lot of work to do to catch the defending champion.
F1 tickets are available now.
