Ireland seal shock win over England
By Benjamin Vincent, on 3rd March 2011, 10:44 UTC
Kevin O'Brien smashed an incredible 113 of just 63 balls as Ireland completed an astonishing victory over England in Bangalore.
O'Brien hit the fastest century in World Cup hisory as Ireland recovered from a poor start to overhaul England's total of 327, with five balls and three wickets to spare.
Half centuries from Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell had driven England to an imposing 327-8.
But O'Brien, a 26-year-old all-rounder who had never made a fifty in nine previous World Cup innings, had other ideas and his powerful display means that Ireland completed the highest run chase ever at the World Cup.
Cricket World Cup tickets are available now.
