Speculation has risen in India about the Cricket World Cup trophy, as it has been reported that a fake was given to the Indian team as the original was stuck in customs.
India beat Sri Lanka in the Cricket World Cup final to claim the trophy, but sources have now said that this was a fake. If the reports are true, it would be the first time the real trophy has not been handed out in the competition's history.
The Times of India today reported that according to its sources, Team India were given a replica of the World Cup trophy.
"The original is lying with the Customs," the TOI quoted a BCCI source without elaborating.
Cricket tickets, including Englands test matches against Sri Lanka and India, are available now.
