As soon as it was announced that Danny Boyle would be directing Nick Dear's version of the Mary Shelley classic, 'Frankenstein' was already the biggest show of the year.
It does not dissapoint either. Boyle's show has an intriguing twist; it is presented mainly through the view of the creature, beginning with a lavish entrance and many scene changes as the creature emerges into the world.
Another experiment brought to the table is that of the main characters. Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller are alternating the roles of the scientist Dr Victor Frankenstein and his creature.
Boyle told The Telegraph: These two characters, in many ways, theyre the same person. In this adaptation, theyre the creator and son, and the obligation in that relationship is very close. Id worked with Jonny on Trainspotting (he played Sick Boy), but not Benedict. Theyre of similar ability, but they come from different traditions which seemed right.
One thing for certain is that audiences will be entertained no matter what night they attend. 'Frankenstein' is packed full of effects and the memorable dialouge will be talked about for years to come. This classic tale with a twist is a must see.
Frankstein tickets are available now.
