World number two Roger Federer has beaten Russia's Igor Andreev 7-5 7-6 (7-4) in round two of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
Federer, who has won this event three times before, received a bye in the first round. The 16-time Grand Slam champion will now face Juan Ignacio Chela.
Federer did not have the easiest match against world number 96 Andreev, but managed to come through without dropping a set.
Third seed Novak Djokovic remains unbeaten in 2011 after crushing Andrey Golubev 6-0 6-4 and eighth seed Andy Roddick overcame James Blake 6-3 7-5.
Tennis tickets, including Wimbledon, are available now.
