England hope that their 22-16 win over Scotland last Sunday has proved that they have the grit and determination to win ugly when they need to.

Martin Johnson's team were expected to demolish a struggling Scotland side, but found it difficult to rack up the points.

They will hope to put in another winning performance against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, where victory will mean a first Grand Slam since 2003.
