Juan Martin del Potro beat Radek Stepanek in straight sets in the first round of the Masters Series event at Indian Wells to continue his impressive comeback from a serious injury.
Del Potro, a former US Open Champion, won 6-4 6-0 against Stepanek, who is ranked 67th.
The 22-year-old Argentinian is still recovering from a wrist injury which prevented him from playing in 2010 and saw his ranking tumble from a career high fourth.
However, after winning Delray Beach tournament last week without dropping a set, del Potro has climbed more than 400 spots in the rankings to 90th.
"I broke his serve very soon and took confidence with my serve. I played a good match," del Potro told the official ATP Tour website.
